OAC Grads, The Ontario Agricultural College Graduate Student Council (OAC GSC) is pleased to invite you to the 3rd Annual Cross Campus Conference (CCC) on October 3rd, 2019. The CCC is an opportunity for graduate students from different programs and campuses to meet together for a fun day of professional development and networking. The Ridgetown Campus will be hosting this year’s CCC, and lunch and transportation will be provided for this FREE event! Highlights of the program this year include:  

The M.Sc. Defence for Stuart Burdett has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019 @ 9:30 a.m. in Room 030, Animal Science & Nutrition Building. The University of Guelph and the Beef Farmers of Ontario invite you to join us on Friday, Sept. 27, 2019 for an open house at the newly opened Ontario Beef Research Centre in Elora. Guests will have the opportunity to tour one of the most sophisticated beef research facilities in the country and meet researchers driving the beef sector into the future with innovative and sustainable new solutions.   

Join us for a seminar by Dr. Joanna Makowska, Adjunct Professor in Applied Animal Biology at the University of British Columbia, and Laboratory Animal Advisor at the Animal Welfare Institute. She obtained her PhD from the Animal Welfare Program at the University of British Columbia, where her work focused on laboratory rat housing and how it affects rat welfare. Joanna is passionate about understanding what different animals need and how best to provide them with a life worth living.

It is time to celebrate the beginning of a new academic year and welcome the new graduate students in our department. On Friday, September 20th, we will host the Annual Golden Boot Soccer Cup and Annual ABSc BBQ (see the poster below). The event was a great success last year and we are counting on you to make it great again! 

The next Thirsty Third Thursday (TTT) is Thursday September 19th, 9:30 AM in room 141 ☕☕☕ Come and enjoy FREE coffee and treats and great conversation, with your fellow ABSc members. We hope to see there! Cheers, Social Committee and Graduate Student Council  

The Graduate Student Council (GSC) would like to welcome ALL GRAD STUDENTS (both new and seasoned!) to our Welcome Back Event at Buffalo Wild Wings on Tuesday, September 17th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Come and swing into the new semester with lots of free food and drinks and good company with your fellow grads  Why come to this event!? - Join us for lots of FREE food (lots of wings and appetizers)
