Dr. Magda Mielczarek, an Assistant Professor from Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, will present a CGIL Seminar on Friday, August 16th. The seminar will begin at 10:00 AM in room 141 of the Animal Science & Nutrition building.

Dr. Magda Mielczarek belongs to THETA: Statistical Genetics Group [1] and works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics, Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences (Wroclaw, Poland). Dr Mielczarek's area of research covers animals genomics and genetics based on DNA-seq and RNA-seq data. She has expertise in the investigation of Copy Number Variation (CNV) in farm animals focusing on distribution of these polymorphisms across the genome as well as on their functional meaning. Her teaching experience includes leading academic courses (e.g. Bioinformatics, Programming lab, Next Generation Sequencing data analysis) and Bioinformatics Student Association supervision.

The Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock welcomes all interested University of Guelph staff, faculty, students, as well as industry and academic collaborators to attend our CGIL Seminars, which are held on Friday afternoons throughout the Fall and Winter semesters. The meetings are always available remotely via Fuze, for those unable to attend in person, and presentation recordings may also be available after the seminar. Please let me know if you need further instruction on how to connect to Fuze or view available webinar recordings.
