Hello CGIL,

We are happy to have Dr. Issabelle Ampofo, from University of Connecticut, presenting for us on Friday, November 7th , 2025. The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST on the virtual platform Microsoft Teams. The presentation title is: “Genomic evaluation and genetic parameters for acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) resistance in Penaeus vannamei (pacific white shrimp): insights from controlled challenge experiments and population genomics”

Speaker Biography: Dr. Issabelle Ampofo recently defended her PhD in Animal Genomics and Genetics at the University of Connecticut. Her research spans genomic selection and diversity management in aquaculture and livestock, with applications to disease resistance in Pacific white shrimp (AHPND) and crossbred evaluations in dairy cattle. She integrates ssGBLUP, metafounders, and population-genomic analyses (LD, ROH, Ne) to improve accuracy while safeguarding long-term diversity. Issabelle completed a quantitative genetics internship at Zoetis, has presented at major conferences, and serves as a TA for Principles of Biology.

Information to attend: To join this seminar, please ensure you have downloaded the Microsoft Teams application to your computer or join the meeting online using the web browser version of Microsoft Teams. Please join the meeting with your microphone on mute and the camera turned off. After the presentation, you can unmute the microphone, and optionally turn on the camera, if you wish to ask a question. Alternatively, if you wish to pose your question in the chat function, the presenter will answer questions made through the chat.
